Welcome

Healthy eating is more than just low fat, low carb, high protein, or low calorie.  It is incorporating nutritious food into your diet and learning that moderation and balance are key.

The recipes contained in this book consist of whole, natural foods giving your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs to be strong.  Just as important as the health benefits of these recipes, are the time and money benefits they provide.  I have worked very hard to give you recipes that can be done within a half-hour to an hour and that are easy on the pocket book too.  One of the first things you will notice when you start to eat healthier is that your grocery bill will increase.  These recipes have been put together to help reduce that cost so that you can easily lead a healthy lifestyle.

One of the big issues facing the cook of the house is whether or not the rest of the family will like it.  Pleasing everybody is not always the easiest thing to do.  With that in mind, I have recreated some favorites that I promise will pass the test.  You can also start them slow with the Comfort Food Conversion recipes and then introduce some of the others.  I have also kept the spices to a minimum on most of the recipes to please all taste buds, but if you like it spicy then I encourage you to play around with the recipe until it is how you like it.

By using similar ingredients in the recipes, you will be able to stock your cupboards with these items, saving you valuable time and money by not having to run out to the grocery store every time you want to cook something from the book!  To make life a little easier, I have placed a list of items located under Tips & Time Savers that you will want to keep on hand making it easy to throw a meal together.

Lastly, remember that eating healthy does not mean living on salads or tofu!  If you can’t enjoy the food that you eat, then there is no point.  Make smarter choices by replacing higher fat items with lower fat, better for you items and continue to experiment until it is right.
